Product Description
Castelmagno is the king of Piedmont cheeses. It is semi hard and grainy, with a tangy flavour and crumbly texture, tinged with blue mould. A large, cylindrical cheese with a thin crust, it is fantastic served with fig or lemon marmalade.
The name Castelmagno comes from the famous sanctuary dedicated to Saint Magnus, a Roman soldier who, legend has it, was martyred in the Cuneo mountains. Castelmagno cheese began to be made during the twelth century, more or less at the same time as Gorgonzola which means it shares a similar heritage!
